Dolowitz Hunnicutt & Gibbs

History

Attorneys Sandy Dolowitz and Jim Hunnicutt first encountered one another in 2010 when representing opposing sides in a contentious divorce.

That adversarial case bred a considerable amount of mutual respect and admiration. This respect became the cornerstone of their friendship, which later led to Dolowitz Hunnicutt, PLLC when Sandy and Jim forged their partnership on April Fool's Day 2011.

Sandy and Jim set out to create a law firm that brought together their combined experience to provide their clients the best representation possible. Sandy and Jim both are AV Rated lawyers according to Martindale-Hubbell. Sandy has been accepted and recognized as a Diplomate in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an organization made up of elite family law attorneys throughout the country, and is presently serving on the Board of Editors of the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Jim is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers as well and is involved with numerous community programs and committees including: And Justice for All, Third District Pro Se Calendar, Editor of the Utah Journal of Family Law, and the Utah Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Civil Procedure.

Kaitlyn Gibbs merged with the firm in 2018 bringing a considerable amount of family law experience with her. She has been an attorney since she graduated from the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2012. Since then she has worked in family law representing her clients through various issues. As with Sandy and Jim, Jim and Kaitlyn got to know each other by being against each other on a case, and then happening to work in different firms located on the same floor in one of Salt Lake City’s downtown office buildings. The firm changed its name in January 2024 to reflect Kaitlyn’s profound professionalism, advocacy skills, and commitment to the team.

Dolowitz Hunnicutt & Gibbs, PLLC has represented clients in many high-profile cases regarding issues such as high asset divorce, international parental abduction, parental rights of LGBTQ+ parents, and litigating complicated appeal issues to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and Utah’s state appellate courts. Whatever the circumstances, we are passionate about providing excellent legal work to all of our clients and to finding solutions to even the most complex legal matters.
